AED Course (Automated External Defibrillator)
This AED Course offers theory and practical sessions on Basic Life support (C.P.R) in conjunction with the Automated External Defibrillator. It is run over 3 hours giving candidates the opportunity to gain confidence in carrying out Basic Life Support techniques with hands on practice in conjunction with the Automated External Defibrillator. This course also covers the understanding of the necessity of defibrillation.
This course is delivered at your venue with dates and times to suit and on completion the candidates are awarded with certification that is valid for 1 year.
The majority of people who survive a cardiac arrest are resuscitated from ventricular fibrillation (VF) by the administration of a defibrillator shock. This is most likely to be successful when it is given very soon after the onset of VF; emergency service personnel are often unable to arrive soon enough to help a victim.
It has been established through scientific research that a casualty in cardiac arrest has a much higher chance of survival with early defibrillation. It is now common practice for defibrillators to be found in many public areas as well as places of work. Therefore if your workplace has an Automated External Defibrillator it is advised that all staff have adequate training in order to manage the situation until further help arrives.
Although it is not a mandatory requirement, all our 1 day, 2 day and 3 day first aid courses offer free Automated Defibrillator Awareness with hands on practice in conjunction with our CPR practical training session.
