Level 2 Understanding Common Childhood Illnesses
This Common Childhood Illnesses qualification is aimed to increase learners’ knowledge and understanding in children who are unwell to enable them to support the development and well being of infants and children they support or care for. This course will also equip you with how to provide a safe and healthy environment for babies and young children, how to recognise when a baby or child is unwell, and how to manage acute and chronic health conditions in an early years setting. This qualification is ideal for Nurseries, Schools and anyone who works in an Early Years setting or anyone cares for young children.
Although there are many different illnesses that babies and children can experience during childhood, there are several which are more common. Therefore, it is important that those who work, or want to work, with babies and children in an early years setting develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of common childhood illnesses. Not only will this help in ensuring babies and children who are unwell receive the care they need, but it will also help lessen the possibility of the illness spreading to others
On completion of this qualification, you could further study one of our other childcare courses from home, such as the Level 2 Caring for Children and Young People.

ELIGIBILITY
- Age 19+
- Applicants aged between 19 – 23 must hold a prior level 2 or above qualification in any subject except the subject they wish to apply for.
- Applicants over 23 do not need any entry qualifications
- Lives in England
- British Citizen or have been living within the EU for 3 years for purposes other than study
- Able to supply ID at induction
- Provide residency evidence if not a British citizen
