Level 2 Understanding Specific Learning Difficulties
Having Specific Learning Difficulties mean that people find it harder to learn certain skills. As this affects around 15% of people, it is important for those working in healthcare, social care and education to have knowledge of different learning difficulties. The purpose of this qualification is to equip learners with knowledge of a range of different conditions, such as ADHD, dyslexia and dyscalculia. Also how they are diagnosed and how individuals can be supported. You will develop an understanding of the positive aspects and strengths of individuals with a learning difficulty in addition to exploring the barriers they may face.
This course is aimed at individuals looking to improve their understanding and awareness of this topic, and those working in healthcare, social care and education.
COURSE CONTENT
- The characteristics of ADHD, ADD, dyslexia and dyscalculia
- How such difficulties can affect children and adults in different ways
- The importance of early diagnosis
- The various assessment methods available in diagnosis
- How individuals can be supported to gain, start and continue with study and employment
ELIGIBILITY
- Age 19+
- Applicants aged between 19 – 23 must hold a prior level 2 or above qualification in any subject except the subject they wish to apply for.
- Applicants over 23 do not need any entry qualifications
- Lives in England
- British Citizen or have been living within the EU for 3 years for purposes other than study
- Able to supply ID at induction
- Provide residency evidence if not a British citizen
