Understanding challenging Behaviour is the first step towards finding ways to support individuals and help them manage their behaviour. Challenging behaviour is causing increasing concern today, as many individuals have increasing levels of stress and uncertainty in their lives. This behaviour can be due to factors such as anxiety, neglect, abuse, learning disabilities and conditions like dementia. It is important to understand the causes of challenging behaviour in order to find ways of managing situations in an appropriate way. This course can support learners in their progression onto other qualifications and relevant employment in the health and social care sector. COURSE CONTENT
- What is meant by the term ‘behaviour that challenges’?
- How to recognise changes in individuals that may indicate an episode of challenging behaviour
- The importance of non-verbal communication
- How reflection on an incident can assist in managing future behaviour
ELIGIBILITY
- Age 19+
- Applicants aged between 19 – 23 must hold a prior level 2 or above qualification in any subject except the subject they wish to apply for.
- Applicants over 23 do not need any entry qualifications
- Lives in England
- British Citizen or have been living within the EU for 3 years for purposes other than study
- Able to supply ID at induction
- Provide residency evidence if not a British citizen
