First Aid for Parents Course
This First Aid for Parents Course has been created not only to give you the knowledge to help a baby or child with both minor and major first aid incidents but also giving advice on how to recognise and manage a range of common illnesses and conditions. It is suitable for Parents, members of your family or anyone else that takes care of your children. Paediatric age range covers from newborn to 18 years in line with the resuscitation guidance council guidelines. Whilst as parents or child carers we endeavour to prevent accidents this course will equip the candidate with valuable first aid knowledge to secure the safety of your child in an emergency situation.
Course Content:
- Assessing an emergency situation and prioritise what action to take
- Understanding the importance of PPE and Infection Control
- Helping a baby, child who:
- is unresponsive and breathing normally
- is unresponsive and not breathing normally
- is having a seizure or febrile convulsion
- is choking
- is bleeding
- is suffering from shock caused by severe blood loss (hypovolemic shock)
- is suffering from anaphylactic shock
- has burns or scalds
- has a suspected fracture
- has a head injury
- has a foreign body in eyes, ears or nose
- has an eye injury
- has a bite or sting
- is suffering from poisoning
- has a suspected asthma attack
- has an allergic reaction,
- has suspected meningitis or sepsis
- has fever
- Appropriate contents of a first aid box
