Nutrition and Health
Nutrition and Health awareness is designed for those who wish to develop their understanding of the principles of healthy eating and the relationship with nutrition, diet and health. There has never been such a wide range of food available to us. This course will provide the knowledge to make informed lifestyle choices in relation to diet and the effect that food can have on the body and general health. Candidates will gain an understanding about malnutrition and the implications of malnutrition to the individual. The course is ideal for school cooks and catering assistants, those providing food in nurseries or care homes, and any other interested groups who wish to gain a basic grounding in nutrition & health issues.
This course gives an overview of each of the essential components in a healthy diet and can be tailored to suit the requirements of special diets, including the special diets of children, vegetarians and people in care homes.
It is deliver over 3 hours at your venue by a qualified instructor and certification is awarded on completion.
Course Contents:
- Understand the principles of hydration, nutrition and food safety
- Support individuals to have access to fluids in accordance with their plan of care
- Support individuals to have access to food and nutrition in accordance with their plan of care
