Anaphylaxis Course
We can deliver this Anaphylaxis Course as a 2 hour or 3 hour (includes CPR) session and is ideal for anyone working in childcare or any workplace setting who may have to deal with those prone to anaphylaxis shock which is a severe form of
allergic reaction. Some of the most common triggers are nuts, dairy, citrus fruits, shellfish or any kind of foods, insect stings or medication.
Our anaphylaxis course consists of theory and practical sessions of the correct use of an Epi-pen and Jext and on successful completion candidates will receive certification of knowledge and attendance which we recommend annually.
New Legislation Guidance
From 1 October 2017 the Human Medicines (Amendment) Regulations 2017 allows all Local Authority and State nurseries, pre schools, primary and secondary schools to buy adrenaline auto-injector (AAI) devices without a prescription, for emergency use in children who were at risk of anaphylaxis. The school’s spare AAI original use was only for the purpose of administration to pupils known to be at risk of anaphylaxis, for whom both medical authorisation and written parental consent for use of the spare AAI was provided, because their own device is not available or not working (e.g. because it is broken, or out-of-date).
There is now new updated guidance (2023) which allows for the school staff to administer a spare AAI to a pupil or person known or not known to be at risk without written medical authorisation or consent.
