This Basic Life Support Training Annual Update is suitable for clinical healthcare professionals working in Primary Care settings and is in line with CQC and Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines.
Basic Life Support training is not only essential for all healthcare professionals but also those in primary care. Although primary care settings may not routinely handle emergencies it is clinicians that are often the first responders when critical situations arise unexpectedly.
BLS training equips clinicians with the skills to recognize and respond quickly to cardiac arrest, choking, and respiratory emergencies of which immediate intervention significantly increases the patient’s chances of survival before emergency services arrive.
Basic Life Support Training Course content:
Recognising and responding to a range of medical emergencies including:
- cardiac arrest
- choking
- myocardial infarction
- angina
- anaphylaxis
- syncope
- seizures
- The use of emergency equipment and drugs in line with Resuscitation Council (UK) and BNF guidelines
- The importance of teamwork in the ABCDE Approach to managing medical emergencies
- Planning ahead in order to minimise the risks of a medical emergency for individual patients
NOTE: This online course does not include “live” manikin training for CPR and use of the AED. To comply with Resuscitation Council (UK) guidelines, clinical staff should complete a practical assessment annually.
